In conjunction with the upcoming launch of Windows 7 and as part and parcel of its marketing strategy, Microsoft has launched a “Code7 Contest” to invite software developers to showcase their coding talents in the new Windows 7 OS. Participants are required to shoot a three-minute video introducing themselves and demonstrating their application idea for Windows 7.
The organizer will choose the most creative participants as finalist from each of the following geographic regions: China, Europe/UK, Japan/Australia/Antarctica/New Zealand, Middle East/Africa, North America and South/Central America. The finalists will be given a chance to present their idea and application to Microsoft at the coming PDC09 in Los Angeles. Of course the trip to LA is free and there are other prizes for the finalists such as a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate signed by a Microsoft VP and a Code7 Award. The 7 finalists will stand a chance to win up to $17,777 in cash in the final.
The contest will end on 10 October 2009. Developers who can submit their entries by 11.59pm PT on August 15, 2009 might also stand a chance to win some early bird prizes. Users who are keen on the Code7 Contest can find out more about the rules and regulations from the Code7 Contest Site.
