Download iPhone Firmware OS 3.1.3 for iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch

A new version of iPhone OS – the firmware or software that powers iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch had been released by Apple. The new iPhone OS 3.1.3 features a couple of minor updates aimed to improve battery life and includes bug fixes. Note that Apple iPad is running on iPhone OS 3.2.

iPhone 3.1.3 has the following change log:

• Improves accuracy of reported battery level on iPhone 3GS
• Resolves issue where third party apps would not launch in some instances
• Fixes bug that may cause an app to crash when using Japanese Kana keyboard
• Several security fixes such as playing a maliciously crafted mp4 audio file or viewing a maliciously crafted TIFF image may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution, a person with physical access to a locked device may be able to access the user’s data, accessing a maliciously crafted FTP server could result in an unexpected application termination, information disclosure, or arbitrary code execution, multiple input validation issues exist in WebKit’s handling of FTP directory listings, mail may load remote audio and video content when remote image loading is disabled.

To upgrade iPhone or iPod touch to firmware software v3.1.3, just connect the device to computer via USB and run iTunes. A dialog box will prompt to upgrade.
